It’s time now for Japan to atone for its wartime crimes and atrocities . . .
Japan wants a seat in the Security Council at the United Nations
– it’s time to say NO to Japan!
For many months the Japanese have been trying to get a seat on the Security Council at the United Nations. Secretary-General Koffi Annan supports this, as do some others, but a great many people – more than twenty million so far - all over the world, are saying an emphatic “NO”!
Recent anti-Japanese protests in China and South Korea attest to the bitterness that still exists in much of the Far East today – after 60 years, over Japan’s failure to own up to its past. With repeated visits to the Yasukuni Shrine in Tokyo by Prime Minister Koizumi – despite requests from its neighbours not to honour those former war criminals who caused so much death and destruction in WW II, and with the issuing of the second history textbook revision in as many years that further downplays and omits even the mention of the atrocities committed by the Japanese on innocent civilians, prisoners of war, the comfort women – to name just a few, it is time that the world starts to realize what the real issue is here. It is time for Japan to come clean - to acknowledge and admit and apologize for its wartime past, and for the United States and Britain to stop blindly supporting Japan in its efforts to become a major part of the world community – something it cannot do until – like Germany has done – it acknowledges and apologizes for its past.
Despite the economic benefits, tens of thousands of Chinese are boycotting Japanese made goods – maybe it’s time we all did this too. As one report in China put it -
"If Chinese people didn't buy Japanese goods for one day, 1,000 Japanese companies would go bankrupt". "If they didn't buy Japanese goods for six months, half of Japanese people would lose their jobs; if they didn't buy Japanese goods for a year, the Japanese economy would collapse. Send this on to other Chinese people and we won't need to go to war!"
The hilarious and ridiculous statement by the Japanese gov’t. when they called in the Chinese ambassador following the recent anti-Japanese protests in several Chinese cities, calling for China to “apologize” for the demonstrations and “make restitution for the damages”, just shows how delusional the Japanese gov’t is. Imagine, even thinking to make such a request of the Chinese, when in World War II the armies of Japan ravaged and pillaged huge areas of China, indiscriminately bombed its cities to gain China’s resources, raped and murdered more than 300,000 souls in Nanking alone, and almost 40,000,000 altogether - a total 6 TIMES HIGHER than all the people killed in the German Holocaust! What a joke this is when the Japanese gov’t. won’t even acknowledge their wrongdoings, let alone apologize or make restitution for them!
With Japan’s record of atrocities committed against the free people of the world during the Second World War - their systematic killing and butchering of more than 35 million people in China alone, plus many hundreds of thousands elsewhere in Asia, their despicable treatment of tens of thousands of prisoners of war and comfort women; with no remorse or apology ever shown by the government of that country in 60 years, and now the further downplaying of their part in WWII with recent revisions to their schoolbooks, they should have no part in a body that is supposed to be trying to provide peace and stability for our troubled world today.
So much information and documented evidence has been written and is available on the internet and elsewhere, that we will not go into it in any further detail here, except to urge anyone who has any conscience about what the Japanese did in WW II, to please click on the following link and sign and send the petition to stop Japan from obtaining this world position that they so covet - but so little deserve.
To sign the petition please click on http://alpha-la.org/petition.asp. To date more than 25,000,000 have signed this petition worldwide. Can we count on you to do your part too?
Also, CNN is currently running an online survey to gather world opinion on this matter. Please click this link and VOTE!
Results on the first day that CNN launched the survey showed 88% NOT IN FAVOUR of Japan being given a seat on the Security Council. If world opinion can matter – NOW is the time for the people of the world to stand up for what is right – despite the economic power and determination of Japan and her allies – the United States and Great Britain.
